Meet KATSEYE, the global girl group shaking up the music scene and redefining Y2K style for Gen Z. Formed in 2023 through HYBE and Geffen’s Dream Academy, the six members—Daniela, Lara, Manon, Megan, Sophia, and Yoonchae—are as diverse as they are talented. From Europe to Asia to America, they’re a melting pot of voices, vibes, and visions.
Since debuting in 2024, they’ve dropped hits like Debut and Touch, climbed the Billboard 200 with their second EP Beautiful Chaos, and pulled in a loyal fanbase called Eyekons. Their fashion? Low-rise jeans, crop tops, moto jackets—think Y2K nostalgia, but upgraded with bold personality.
Gap’s “Better in Denim” Moment
Now, the group is front and centre in Gap’s Fall 2025 “Better in Denim” campaign. This isn’t just about jeans—it’s about movement, energy, and cultural crossover.
Shot by Bjorn Iooss and directed by Bethany Vargas, the ad revives Gap’s iconic dance-driven marketing style (remember the swing khakis and Daft Punk days?) but with a fresh twist. Backed by Kelis’s “Milkshake”, the campaign sees KATSEYE and 30 dancers pull off a high-energy mashup of hip-hop, jazz-funk, ballet, and even a little Broadway Fosse.
The star of the show? The Long & Lean jeans, reimagined for 2025 with new washes and updated comfort. Pair them with denim bralettes, moto jackets, micro skirts, and suddenly Gap isn’t just selling denim—it’s selling cool again.
Nostalgia + Innovation: Gap brings back its dance ads from the 2000s but fuses them with today’s K-pop energy.
Global Appeal: KATSEYE’s international lineup speaks directly to Gen Z’s love for diversity and cross-cultural icons.
TikTok-Ready: The choreography + “Milkshake” soundtrack is practically built for viral clips.
One fan on Reddit summed it up perfectly:
“The use of Milkshake’s lyrics—‘damn right it’s better than yours’—does seem like the perfect clapback.”

KATSEYE's Personal Touch
Beyond the gloss, there’s heart. KATSEYE’s Yoonchae even shared her childhood memory of rocking Baby Gap hoodies with her sister. That little nostalgic nugget makes the collab feel less like a corporate play and more like a genuine reunion of fashion and fandom.
And yes, for the Eyekons—Gap is releasing a limited-edition KATSEYE hoodie on August 22. Expect it to fly off shelves faster than you can say better in denim.
KATSEYE x Gap is more than a fashion collab—it’s a cultural collision. Denim meets global pop, nostalgia meets Gen Z swagger, and suddenly, Gap is back in the conversation. It’s clever marketing, but also a sign of the times: music and fashion are inseparable, and when the choreography slaps, the sales will too.
