Snoop Dogg, the iconic rapper has officially become a co-owner in Swansea City, the English Championship club. This news put smiles on the faces of football fans and he is not the only high profile figure betting on the team, Luka Modric, a Croatian footballer has also signed on to become a part owner.
Rumors began to circulate when Snoop Dogg assisted in the launch of Swansea's 2025-2026 new home uniform. He always had a deep love of sport, and football in particular. He was once a brand ambassador for the FIFA video game series, and has been pictured wearing a variety of team jerseys over the years. Now that it is official, Snoop has given his own explanation for his choice of Swansea.
Snoop posted on the team's website,
"My passion for football is no secret." However, the tale of Swansea and its inhabitants was what truly captured my attention. It's a proud, hardworking city that never backs down. I recognize myself in that.
Snoop also spoke about having worn many football shirts without ever having felt a club to be the right fit for him. Snoop Dogg's international fan base is likely to increase the club's profile, similar to how Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds have done for Wrexham. With the assistance of popular TV documentary series Welcome to Wrexham, the club became international since those two actors bought Wrexham. By joking that it would be a "Doggumentary," Swansea's ownership group signaled they might be open to doing something along those lines.
Finances have been difficult at Swansea City. They lost £15.2 million pre-tax last year. But the administrators at the club think that with A-listers like Snoop Dogg and Modric on their side, they will boost the club, getting new sponsors, and even potentially help boost the performance of the team on and off the pitch.
