In the ever-growing dining scene of Ara Damansara, one restaurant stands out not just for its food, but for its heart. Born Butcher, founded by Elida and her partner, together with the passion for food, the restaurant has quietly become one of Petaling Jaya’s most talked-about eateries, combining premium meat craftsmanship with a kind of hospitality that feels personal, intentional, and deeply human.
When one of the partners Elida first envisioned Born Butcher, it wasn’t about fancy decor or gimmicks, it was about bringing back honest food, made from scratch, served with care.
Her travels across Europe and Australia exposed her to a kind of meat craftsmanship rarely seen in Malaysia: house-cured salt beef, handmade sausages, and perfectly aged cuts of meat treated with precision. Realising there was a gap in the Malaysian halal dining scene for such authentic flavours, she set out to create a space that marries quality meats with genuine hospitality.
To-Die-For Dishes at Born Butcher
If comfort food could speak, Born Butcher’s top three dishes would do all the talking.
The Salted Beef is slow-cured in-house using premium Australian brisket, then cooked until tender enough to fall apart with a gentle press of the fork. Unlike typical versions served heavy with gravy, Born Butcher pairs theirs with a light potato salad tossed in vinaigrette, cutting through the richness with a refreshing balance of acidity and texture. The result is a dish that’s both indulgent and bright, a melt-in-your-mouth experience that lingers long after the last bite.
The Truffle Mac n Cheese takes comfort food to a new level. The top has a perfect burnt-cheese crust, it delivers that irresistible cheesy pull with every scoop. The truffle aroma weaves gently through each mouthful without overpowering the creamy base, creating a harmony of savoury, smoky, and aromatic notes. It’s simple, rich, and absolutely addictive.
Then there’s the Oxtail Soup, a slow-simmered labour of love. The meat literally falls off the bone, while the broth carries layers of depth, spiced, savoury, and comforting. Each spoonful feels restorative, the kind of flavour that invites silence around the table as everyone soaks in the warmth.
And if you’re visiting, try out their other best-selling dishes, like the Mixed Sausage Platter and Ox Tongue Sandwich. Don’t miss the Sunday Roast, available from 11 AM onwards every Sunday, adding the perfect finale to Born Butcher’s already irresistible lineup.

No meal at Born Butcher is complete without their signature drink, the Asam Boi Lemonade.
It’s a refreshing balance of sweet, sour, and salty, a nostalgic Malaysian favourite elevated with a modern touch. The drink is made using sparkling water for that fizzy kick, but customers also have the option to switch to still (non-sparkling) water for a smoother, classic version.
Either way, it’s the perfect pairing to their rich, savoury dishes, cutting through the heaviness with a bright, zesty lift. One sip, and you’ll understand why it’s a fan favourite among regulars.
Family-Friendly Dining in Ara Damansara
What sets Born Butcher apart isn’t just the food, it’s the way they’ve built their space around people.
From the moment you walk in, it’s clear the restaurant was designed with families and inclusivity in mind. There’s a multi-purpose room that doubles as a breastfeeding space or surau, ensuring everyone feels comfortable. The restroom is equipped with a baby-changing table, showing just how much thought has gone into creating a parent-friendly dining environment.
“We wanted a place that feels like home, where you can enjoy exceptional food but still feel comfortable coming in with your family, even with a baby in tow,” says Elida.
It’s a level of hospitality that goes beyond service, it’s empathy, turned into design.
Born Butcher's Ambience: Industrial Warmth Meets Modern Comfort
Born Butcher’s interior strikes the perfect balance between contemporary charm and homely warmth. Large windows bring in natural light, complemented by wood, metal, and soft lighting that create a welcoming space for everyone.
The atmosphere is casual yet refined, perfect for both intimate lunches and large family gatherings. The staff’s friendliness, the attention to detail, and the comfort-first layout all reinforce why Born Butcher is fast becoming a local favourite.
